August 29 – International Day of actions against nuclear tests

In 1991, the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, issued a resolution banning nuclear tests, the number of which was about 500 tests from 1949 to 1989. The Semipalatinsk nuclear test site was completely closed. It was a bold step by Elbasy towards the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
