The valuable legacy of Sherkhan Murtaza entrusted to the National Archives

On October 24, 2025, the golden fund of the National Archives of the RK was enriched with the personal documentary heritage of the giant of Kazakh literature, writer, and public figure Sherkhan Murtaza. The handover was marked by an event titled «The Legacy of Sherkhan Murtaza: From «’Egemen Qazaqstan” to the National Archives.»
As part of the solemn ceremony, a legacy consisting of more than 6,000 pages related to the writer’s life and work was officially handed over to the archival fund. The materials include the original manuscripts of the famous novel The Red Arrow (Kyzył Zhebe), research notes on Turar Ryskulov, and the manuscript of the two-part drama The Letter of the Five (Beseydiń Khaty), which depicts the activism of Kazakh intellectuals against Soviet authorities, among several other works.
In addition, rare photographs, personal letters, notebooks, and other documents of great historical and cultural significance—many of which have never been published before—were entrusted to the archives.
This event is a significant step toward preserving spiritual values and passing on the precious treasures of our national literature and history to future generations. Prominent state and public figures, literary scholars, and media representatives attended the ceremony. The event concluded with the signing of a bilateral agreement.
