The People’s Poet of Kazakhstan, the laureate of the State Prize of Kazakhstan, the public figure Fariza Ongarsynova was born on December 25, 1939 in the village of Manash, now part of the Novobogat district of the Atyrau region.
In 1961, Fariza Ongarsynova graduated from the Philology Faculty of the Guryev (Atyrau) State Pedagogical Institute with a degree in Kazakh language and literature.
The poet, who began her career as a teacher in a simple village school, worked as a correspondent for the Guryev, Aktobe and Ural regions in the editorial office of the newspaper “Leninshil Zhas” in 1968-1970.
