The exhibition “The Kazakh Steppe in the 18th Century: Valuable Data from the Iranian Archives” opened in Shymkent

On April 29, 2026, on the instructions of the Committee for Archives, Documentation and Book Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information, a particularly important cultural event was held at the A. Pushkin Universal Library, organized by the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Archive of the city of Shymkent.
The grand opening ceremony of the exhibition “The Kazakh Steppe in the 18th Century: Valuable Data from the Iranian Archives” was organized here.
The main value of the exhibition is the presentation of ancient manuscripts and previously unpublished important documents related to the history of Kazakhstan found in the Iranian archives. This is valuable data that will allow us to supplement the unknown pages of our national history.
During the event, Tursyngul Kusaynova, Deputy Director of the State Institution “National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, made a detailed report on the scientific and historical significance of the documents brought from the Iranian archives.
The exhibition featured videos titled “The Kazakh Steppe in the 18th Century: The Way of Bringing Valuable Data from Iranian Archives to the Republic of Kazakhstan” and “Archive-2025: Documents Brought from Foreign Archives.”
At the end of the exhibition, Saltanat Sevkraevna Altayeva, Head of the Document Use Department of the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, gave a detailed introduction to the presented archival artifacts and conducted a special tour.
The exhibition continued in the afternoon at the Shymkent City State Archive. Many residents and guests of the city showed interest in it.
