A Scholar’s Legacy Added to the National Archives

On 19 June 2026, the National Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted the ceremonial opening of the personal archival collection of Dr. Gani Karasayev, a distinguished historian and Doctor of Historical Sciences. The event was organized as part of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the National Archives.
Gani Karasayev is a prominent scholar who has made a significant contribution to the study of Kazakhstan’s history, particularly the history of East Kazakhstan and the Altai region. He is also widely recognized for his research on the foreign policy of independent Kazakhstan. The scholar is the author of more than 300 academic publications and numerous monographs.
The ceremony brought together scholars, public figures, colleagues, and former students, who highlighted his substantial contribution to the development of historical science in Kazakhstan and emphasized the importance of preserving his academic legacy.
As part of the event, a photo-documentary exhibition dedicated to the scholar’s life and academic career was presented. The exhibition featured valuable archival materials reflecting his research achievements and public activities.
The personal collection of Gani Karasayev has now become part of the holdings of the National Archives and will serve as an important source for future researchers and historians.
