Alibek Askarov, Personal Fund Holder of the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Turns 75!
Today, writer Alibek Askarov—a personal fund holder of the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan, State Prize Laureate, and Honored Worker of Kazakhstan—celebrates his milestone 75th birthday.
The author handed over his personal documents to the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan in July 2021. The documents underwent scientific and technical processing, resulting in the creation of Inventory No. 1 of permanently preserved files, covering the period from 1959 to 2021.
The documents therein were systematized according to a thematic principle and divided into 6 sections. The documents and materials in each section were arranged in chronological order. The inventory includes 46 files.

Section I includes the fund holder’s personal documents.

Section II contains creative documents, divided into the following two subsections:

2.1. Articles, stories, and novellas: A collection of unpublished stories; a stage adaptation for rural theater based on the novella “Өр Алтай мен қайтейін биігіңді” (High Altai, What Use Are Your Heights to Me); articles published in the press such as “No matter how much of a writer I am, I look at life with the eyes of an artist…”, “The Bitter Fate of Rudny Altai”, “Mukur and its Inhabitants”, etc.

2.2. Books: “Мұнар тауды, мұзарт шыңды аңсаймын” (Reflections on the Land and People); “The Creak of a Salty Heart” (Stories); the poem “It Was Golden Autumn in Altai”; the novel “Өр Алтай, мен қайтейін биігіңді…”, etc.

Section III groups professional and official documents.

Section IV includes letters written by the fund holder, as well as letters written to him by state and public figures and colleagues.

Section V groups documents about the fund holder: articles published in the press such as “Alibek’s World”, “The Bitter Truth of a Turbulent Era”, “Askarov’s Time”, etc.; and the book about the author’s creativity titled “Among the Classics”, among others.

Section VI contains collected documents: Mels Uzbekov’s collection of sheet music and songs; a list of Kazakh books published in Kazan before 1918; a list of Abai Kunanbaiuly’s books in Arabic script, etc.
