Almaty residents showed great interest in the exhibition of documents brought from Iran

On May 29, 2026, a special cultural and scientific event was held at the State Archive of Almaty as part of the exhibition “The Kazakh Steppe of the 18th Century: Valuable Documents from Iranian Archives.”
During the event, Tursyngul Kussainova, Deputy Director of the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered a presentation on the historical and scientific significance of documents obtained from Iranian archives, emphasizing their importance for the study of Kazakhstan’s history.
In addition, Gauhar Khairullina, Head of the Department for Personal Provenance Documents, introduced visitors to the exhibition and provided detailed information about the archival materials and historical documents on display.
As part of the exhibition, a documentary video entitled “The Journey of Valuable Documents on the 18th-Century Kazakh Steppe from Iranian Archives to the Republic of Kazakhstan” was screened, presenting the history of the discovery, transfer, and scholarly use of documents obtained from foreign archives.
Historians and archival specialists also shared their views during the event. Among them were Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor Ryskeldi Myrzabekova, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Turganzhan Tolebayev, as well as young researchers and students specializing in archival studies, who highlighted the scientific and educational value of the exhibition.
The exhibition is one of the important cultural and scientific initiatives aimed at introducing new historical sources into academic circulation, promoting historical heritage, and strengthening public historical awareness.
It is worth noting that the exhibition had previously been presented in the city of Shymkent and at the Central State Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty.
